Did you know that you don’t have to visit the salon for good quality hair colour? You can colour your hair from the comfort of your home and best of all, it won’t take you hours.
Before we walk you through the hair colour process you’ll need a few things, including one to two boxes of colour, depending on how long and thick your hair is. It’s also a good idea to ask a friend to help you out. They’ll be able to apply colour to all those hard to reach places and spread it more evenly.
First off, put together a hair colouring tool-kit. It’ll save you looking for necessary items while colouring your hair. Here’s a quick checklist of what you’ll need:
- Plastic gloves
- Old shirt
- Vaseline
- Damp cloth to wipe up spills
- Hair clip
- Wide tooth comb to segment hair
- Old towel
- Big safety pin
- Hair colour
To get started, put an old shirt on and fasten a towel around your neck with a safety pin. Next take the Vaseline and apply it around your hairline to ensure the hair colour doesn’t stain your skin. Put on your gloves and you’re ready to colour your hair.
Take the comb and segment your hair into four equal sections. Apply the colour to one section at a time. It’s easier if you clip the sections that you’re not focussing on and work from the bottom, up.
Once you’ve coloured a section, clip it back up and move onto the next one. This’ll ensure that the colour is spread evenly throughout your hair.
Follow the instruction leaflet and be sure to adhere to the recommended application times. For full head colour application, ensure that you use ample product to cover the full length of your hair to promote an even end result.
For root touch ups, ensure that you are not over processing mid-lengths and ends.
If you’re still looking for that dream colour, why not take a look at the Renew range? Our colours all come with an aloe and protein conditioner so your hair will look and feel its best after colouring.
